We woke up, got cleaned up. We called our butler and asked him to make us reservations for tonight and Wednesday night at the two restaurants that require reservations, Le Jardinier and Royal Thai. We headed to Le Jardinier for breakfast. Le Jardinier is the French themed restaurant at the resort. We both had eggs benedict which was quite tasty. After breakfast, we headed to the lobby to meet another travel agent, her husband, and Olivia who is one of the resort sales agents. Olivia took us to a boat that transferred us over the private island on the resort. We followed her to one of the overwater villas that was being cleaned up for new guests. We weren’t allowed to take any pictures inside the unit because it was still being cleaned. It was a very nice unit. At over $20,000 USD per person for a week, it had better be! It has a glass floor in a couple of areas so you can see the ocean beneath you. It also has a beautiful patio with a built-in hammock, swing, stairs down to the water, and pool. After leaving the villa, Olivia took us to one of the overwater bungalows which is pretty similar, but not quite as big. It’s only $16,000 USD per person for a week. This one had already been cleaned so we were allowed to take pictures inside. The bungalows are laid out in the shape of a heart which you could see if you had an aerial view.
After viewing the amazing overwater units, we returned to the main resort. We headed to the room and changed into our swimwear before finding our spot along the beach. We spent the afternoon relaxing on the beach and wading into the ocean. We walked over to the pizzeria and brought a pizza back to the beach for lunch. We met a few couples from the US and a younger couple from Lacombe, Alberta. What are the chances! It was fairly windy which was good and bad. It made it feel cooler than 30 degrees out which is good, but by late afternoon it was feeling a little chilly.
We returned to the room around 4:30pm after grabbing a quick snack at the bar on the beach. Amanda realized she had gotten fairly sunburned on her legs and shoulders in the afternoon. She had a cool bath to soothe the burns while I went to the gift shop to look for aloe gel. After I returned, I relaxed for a bit until around sunset. I grabbed the camera and went for a walk around the resort, snapping a few photos along the way. I returned to the room and relaxed for a little longer until it was time to get ready for dinner.
Our butler had made a reservation at Le Jardinier for dinner at 7:30pm. Le Jardinier is the only restaurant with a fancier dress code. We dressed ourselves appropriately and waited for our second butler, Andre, to arrive. Andre arrived at 7:25pm and introduced himself. We hadn’t met him yet as he was not working the day before. Andre escorted us to the restaurant. There was no one at the greeter’s stand at the restaurant. We waited a few minutes until Andre got impatient and went into the restaurant to find the greeter. He returned with her shortly afterwards where we were informed our table was not ready. Andre didn’t seem too pleased. He escorted us to a couch in the lobby and offered to grab us a drink while we waited. We took him up on the offer an relaxed on the couch for a few minutes until he returned with our drinks. By then, our table was ready and we were escorted into the restaurant. The restaurant had a different ambiance from breakfast. It is an open air restaurant so we could look up and see the stars. We both ordered escargot as an appetizer and Chateaubriand for our main course. It was delicious. Amanda had creme brulee and I had a banana cake for dessert.
After dinner, we walked over to the stage where they had international dancers performing. We watched them for a few minutes before returning to the room. Amanda had another cool bath to soothe her burns before we called it a night.
