We had a quiet morning. We enjoyed breakfast at the condo. Mid-morning we headed out for a walk. There was a small market set up at the Westin resort next door that we wandered through. Darrell and the kids each bought a new Hawaiian shirt from one of the vendors.
We headed back to our resort and explored a couple of the stores they have on-site. We continued on and went across the street from the resort to the Times grocery store. We wandered through the store for a bit and bought a few items before returning to the condo.
Patrick was dying to go to the beach again. After we had a bite of lunch, we headed to the sand. We spent the afternoon in the water and lazing around on the beach. Michael and Jim headed back to the resort part way through the afternoon to hang out in the pool. Michael had had enough of the beach. Amanda and Patrick did a bit of snorkeling and saw a few fish. There were some turtles in the area as well but they didn’t see them. There were several whales splashing in the distance throughout the afternoon. Patrick also dug himself another hole on the beach.
Shortly after 4:00 we headed back to the condo to get cleaned up. We spent about an hour in the condo before heading to the Royal Lahaina Resort to attend the Myths of Maui Luau. It’s the same luau we attended when Michael was about 5 years old. He was too young at the time and fell asleep so didn’t really get to experience it. He really enjoyed the show this time. We were given flower leis when we arrived which Michael wasn’t fond of. The performance included dances from different areas including Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, and Samoa. They provide some of the history behind the dances from each area and conclude with a Samoan fire dance. They offered a buffet for the food which included salads, rice, corn, and a selection of meats such as chicken, pork, and fish.
After the luau ended, we returned to the condo and chatted with Jim and Linda for a bit before calling it a day.
