The first day of our trip to Europe. We’ve been waiting for this day for over 2 years now. We were supposed to do this trip last year but it was cancelled due to the pandemic.
We headed to the airport at 10:00 this morning. We were flying to Paris via a layover in Halifax. On our way to the check-in counter we saw some familiar faces. A few of our Scouting friends were also checking in at the airport on their way to Finland for a Scout jamboree. What a coincidence! We knew they were leaving soon but didn’t realize it was the same day. After chatting with them for a few minutes, we got ourselves checked in and headed through security. It was smooth sailing and we were at the gate with a couple of hours to until our flight. We wandered through the terminal and ran into our Scout friends again. We chatted for a few more minutes and then found a few chairs to park in until our flight boarded.
Before we knew it, it was time to board the plane. They started boarding our flight a little late for some reason. We got onboard and settled in for the flight to Halifax. The flight was uneventful. Michael played on his new Nintendo Switch for most of the flight while the rest of us watched movies and did some reading. About five hours later we landed in Halifax. We had a little under two hours in Halifax until our next flight left. We were hungry but of course not much was open at the Halifax airport since it was 9:30pm. We found a store with some overpriced sandwiches and called that dinner.

Our next flight was also delayed. The previous flight was late arriving which delayed our departure by about half an hour. Aside from that, the second flight was pretty uneventful as well. We all tried to get some sleep but didn’t get much. We landed in Paris at 10:00am.
