Today was a sea day! After having a couple of early mornings in Kusadasi and Athens, we enjoyed sleeping in this morning. We also gained an hour over night as the ship transitioned from Greece time back to Italy time. We rolled out of bed at about 9:00am Italy time. We got ourselves showered and dressed and headed out for some breakfast.
We decided to change things up a bit today. We headed to the main dining room for “brunch” instead of the Windjammer Market. They had an interesting selection of food ranging from your standard breakfast items like eggs and omelets to lunch items such as burgers and chicken and waffles. Michael was the only one who ordered breakfast food. Patrick had a burger while Amanda and Darrell tried the chicken and waffles. Everyone enjoyed their meals.
Once breakfast was done, we headed to Two70. They were hosting a discussion with the Captain. The “all access tour” they used to offer hasn’t been re-instated yet so they showed a video with some behind the scenes areas while the captain explained what we were seeing. There was a Q&A session afterwards. It was quite interesting. The captain is very personable and likes to joke. During his daily announcements, he always gives us “something far less useful” such as the fact that you can’t lick your own elbow. He informed us that the ship can hold about 3600 tons of fuel and they burn about 100 tons per day. They can go about a month without needing to refuel. If they’re careful with their speed and such, they can stretch that to almost two months if needed. A kid asked what would happen if one of the life boats sank. The captain replied that if the ship AND a lifeboat sank, he would be having a very bad day at work. I guess you would have to swim… Before stating that they have other devices such as life rafts that they can use to rescue everyone.
Once the discussion with the captain was over, it was time to go for a swim. We spent an hour or so in the pool and then returned to the room to get rinsed off. Then we grabbed some lunch from the Windjammer. Michael returned to the room after lunch while the rest of us wandered the ship for a bit. We ended up at the Seaplex where Amanda spanked Patrick at a game of air hockey. Patrick wanted to see if the rock climbing wall was busy so Amanda returned to the room. Darrell and Patrick discovered rock climbing was pretty busy, but the Skypad was not. They were offering the VR experience this time which they weren’t on the first day. Patrick got suited up and went for a jump on the Skypad. They give you VR goggles to wear while you jump which let’s you play a VR game. Once his time was up on the Skypad, they returned to the room to join everyone else.
We relaxed in the room for a bit until it was time to head for dinner. It was the second formal night so we got a little dressed up and headed to the main dining room. It was lobster night! The boys didn’t order lobster, but the adults enjoyed it.
After dinner, we got a few pictures taken and headed to Two70. They were showing The Book again which the boys wanted to see. Along the way we stopped at the Bionic Bar and let the kids each pick a drink. They enjoyed watching the robot arms prepare their drinks. Then we continued on to Two70. We discovered a game in the Royal Caribbean app where you have to find masks in the Two70 venue. You scan them with the camera on the phone which unlocks games you have to complete. Michael ran around trying to find the masks while we waited for the show to start. He found two of the four masks before he ran out of time. We watched the show which the boys enjoyed and then returned to the room for the night. It will be another early morning in Naples tomorrow.
