We are off on another adventure! This time we’re spending a couple of days in Seattle before flying to Alaska where we’ll board a cruise ship and sail down to Vancouver.
Darrell worked for the morning and then we finished our packing and left for the airport at 4:00pm. Darrell’s Dad was our chauffeur to the airport. The self-serve kiosk gave us some issues. It didn’t recognize that we had pre-purchased our checked luggage for the flight so we had to go wait in line to talk to one of the agents. She got us sorted and checked in our suitcases. We breezed through security, but had another hiccup at customs. The Nexus machine didn’t like Patrick for some reason. The border agent was very nice. He got us sorted out quickly and we were on our way to our gate.
We hadn’t had any dinner yet so we stopped at Wolfgang Puck’s to grab some food. Patrick ordered a BBQ chicken pizza that came covered in cilantro. Cilantro was not listed as a topping in the menu. Our family are the lucky ones that think cilantro tastes like soap. We complained to the waitress but she shrugged us off and just said, “well at least it’s just on top so you can pick it off”. Patrick tried to pick it off, but the cheese had melted around it and the flavor remained. He couldn’t eat it. We ended up speaking to a manager about it and she took the pizza off the bill for us. The rest of our meals were quite lovely. Once Amanda was done her meal, she took Patrick to find something else to eat. Darrell and Michael stayed behind to pay the bill before meeting up with them. Patrick picked up some sushi and we headed to the gate before he enjoyed it.
Boarding was delayed about 15 minutes due to some sort of issue with the life vests it sounded like. It wasn’t a big issue thankfully and we made our way onto the plane. Then there was another slight delay because the bridge to board the plane wouldn’t retract. They got that fixed quickly and we were on our way. The flight was uneventful and they were able to make up most of the lost time in the air.
We landed in Seattle at about 8:15pm. We picked up our rental car and drove to the Grand Hyatt Seattle. It was about 10:00pm by the time we got checked in. We got familiar with our room quickly before calling it a night.
