We woke up early this morning. We finished our packing and got cleaned up for the day. Then we headed to Ruth’s Chris in the hotel lobby to grab some breakfast. There was staff in the restaurant this time! The service wasn’t speedy by any means, but the food was good.
After breakfast, we grabbed our luggage and loaded into the rental car. We drove to the Seattle Airport and returned the car. We hopped on the shuttle to the terminal and were at the terminal by 11:00am. We checked our bags and went through security. We were at our gate by 11:30am. Our flight wasn’t until 1:20pm so we had a bit of time to kill. We relaxed at the gate and grabbed a small bite for lunch before boarding the plane.
Our plane left on time and about three hours later we landed in Anchorage. We collected our bags and made our way to the hotel shuttle area. It was a little rainy but the shuttle area was covered. It took about 20 minutes or so before the shuttle arrived. We arrived at the Wyndham Ship Creek hotel around 5:00pm. Our hotel is about a block from the Alaska Railroad terminal in Anchorage.
We got acquainted with our room and reached out to our friend Tim. He was meeting us in Anchorage and will be travelling with us until we board the ship on Friday. We arranged to meet up with Tim at a restaurant called Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse. We met him there at 6:30pm. We enjoyed some food and conversation until about 7:30pm. We decided to go for a walk after dinner. We found a boat launch area hidden between the railroad and one of the cargo ports. We watched the sunset from the boat launch and then walked back to our hotel. Tim was staying at a VRBO elsewhere, so we said goodbye to him and then called it a night.
