This is the beginning of our New England cruise adventure. We are flying to Boston for a few days before boarding the Majestic Princess cruise ship for a New England cruise. The cruise will stop at the following ports:

– Portland, Maine
– St. John, New Brunswick
– Halifax, Nova Scotia
– Sydney, Nova Scotia

We departed for the airport at 7:45am this morning. Darrell’s Dad drove us to the airport. We checked in and made our way through security and customs without issue. Once in the terminal, we headed to Wolfgang Puck’s for some breakfast. Once finished breakfast, we headed to our gate to wait for our flight. We boarded the plan around 10:30am. We booked the flight with WestJet, but ended up on a Sunwing plane which didn’t make us very happy. The seats are smaller and they don’t have onboard Wi-Fi or entertainment. We had downloaded some shows to watch in case this happened so were able to keep ourselves occupied for the flight.

Aside from the crappy plane, the rest of the flight was uneventful. We landed in Boston on time at 5:30pm. We deplaned and made our way to the baggage claim area. It was quite a walk to the baggage claim, but we eventually made it. It took a while for any bags to come onto the carousel, but our bags did eventually show up. We grabbed our bags and made our way to the ride share location at the airport. Amanda and Darrell agreed that this was the worst airport to traverse that they’ve been to. The signage is confusing and you have to walk a fair distance to get anywhere.

We finally make it to the ride share pickup area and requested an Uber to pick us up. The Uber arrived within a few minutes and we made our way to our hotel. We booked rooms at The Arcadian hotel in Brookline. It is an interesting hotel. There are exterior and interior rooms which is a little unusual. We were given interior rooms that have a window into the hallway. The rooms are pretty basic, but will do the job for a few days. The toilets are tiny though. They look like the toilets in the preschool we sent the boys too. You have to really bend down to sit on them. We were originally supposed to fly in the next day (August 5th), but WestJet cancelled our flight and rebooked us a day earlier. Because of that we had to add a night to our reservation, but they were unable to modify our existing booking and instead had to give us a second booking for the additional night. We were informed when we checked in that we would have to check out the next morning and check in again. They would give us the same rooms for both reservations though so we wouldn’t have to move rooms or anything.

By the time we got checked in, it was about 7:00pm and time to find some dinner. We went for a walk to find a restaurant to eat at. We ended up at a restaurant called Otto that is mainly a pizza restaurant. We ordered three pizzas but they were bigger than we were expecting. They were tasty, but we only ended up eating about half of what we ordered. We felt bad but had nowhere to store leftover pizza so left what we didn’t eat. After dinner, we returned to the hotel and chilled out until bedtime.
