We woke up at 9:30am again today. Patrick wasn’t impressed. He asked “why is everyone awake already?” Apparently he didn’t sleep well. We followed our regular routine by getting cleaned up and grabbing some breakfast. It was another cloudy day but didn’t seem as windy. The temperature was around 10 degrees. After breakfast the kids ran off to Adventure Ocean. We went back to our room and started packing up.
We lost another hour at noon today. The ship was now on Vancouver time. One of the waiters twisted our rubber arms yesterday and booked us at Izumi for lunch today. They offered us a 40% discount. Once the kids returned from Adventure Ocean we headed to Izumi. The kids weren’t terribly hungry but we ordered some gyoza and a few rolls (crispy shrimp, spicy tuna, and champagne lobster). We also ordered some shrimp nigiri for Michael. Darrell ordered some miso soup which we discovered the rest of the family is not fond of. The food was very yummy.
We returned to our room after lunch. An announcement came over the PA system just as we got to our room. They had a medical issue on board and a passenger required an immediate blood transfusion. They asked any willing O negative blood donors to report to the medical bay so they could obtain enough blood. Darrell is an O negative blood donor so he headed to the medical bay while Amanda helped the kids pack their suitcases and then took them to Adventure Ocean. Darrell was one of the first to arrive at the medical bay. Before long there was a line of probably a couple of dozen willing blood donors. It was pretty amazing. Darrell returned to the room about an hour later after they tested and then took his blood.
We went for a wander around the ship and Darrell snapped some photos of the ship. The solarium was full of people so we decided to come back for photos of that area later. We didn’t feel right taking pictures of a bunch of strangers in their swimsuits by the pool. We returned to the room and the kids showed up shortly afterwards. We got ourselves ready and headed to the dining room for our last dinner on the ship. The wait staff had a goodbye parade and dance for us. We said goodbye to our waiters and returned to the room. We finished off our packing and the kids changed into their PJ’s before heading to Adventure Ocean for the last time. They were having a pyjama party!
We went for another walk around the ship and took some pictures of the now empty solarium. After a brief stop in the room we headed to the theatre for the evening show. The late night comedian onboard, Kelly Monteith, put on a “family friendly” show which was not quite family friendly in our opinion. Most of it was tame, but I don’t consider viagra and transvestites to be family friendly content. We were happy our kids didn’t attend. His comedy was mediocre. After he completed his set the singers and dancers did a short performance and then a dozen or so crew members came on stage to say goodbye.
We picked up the kids from Adventure Ocean and headed back to the room to finish our packing and put our suitcases outside our door. The staff picks them up and loads them for offloading overnight. It will be an early morning so we called it a night.
